I have to face some (common) issues while I've try to install the latest stable Docker on my desktop. The internet filled with different solutions for each problems, so I thought I write a short article about how did I get Docker to work.

First of all we need to install the latest stable Docker. Here is the full step-by-step installation description from Docker's site, but I think the easiest way is to use this script:

curl -sSL https://get.docker.com/ubuntu/ | sudo sh

After the installation finished let's see which are the most common problems that we will have to face.

The most common problems

Problem:

Cannot connect to the Docker daemon. Is 'docker -d' running on this host?

Solution:

sudo usermod -a -G docker YOUR_USERNAME

After that you should reboot your system.

Problem:

Error loading docker apparmor profile: fork/exec/sbin/apparmor_parser: no such file or directory ()

Solution:

sudo apt-get install apparmor

I hope this really short article will help to solve your problems with Docker and save your time from browsing StackOverflow for a WORKING solution. If anyone face with other problems please leave a comment.
